“John” a person many may know as the guy who has been standing on HighWay 9 holding a “Work Wanted” sign for the past year, was found dead in the creek – Boulder Creek – yesterday. Cause of death is not yet known, but it appears as though there was no foul play. John was homeless and also suffered from seizures which may have contributed to his death.
The Santa Cruz Sentinel has reported although they currently have not confirmed the identity. Click HERE

John was a local man who grew up in Boulder creek, son of ranch owner. John was currently homeless but not transient, he was lifelong local resident who suffered from epilepsy making it less than easy to find a job in today’s job market. With a sense of pride and the need to feed himself John stood daily on the side of Hwy 9 asking for work not a hand out. I knew John as an intelligent and kind person who suffered throughout his life of a cruel and tragic illness which appears to be a factor in his drowning death in the San Lorenzo River. I hope he finds peace without pain as he transitions to his next experience.
