Press-Banner – San Lorenzo Valley Water District considers lawsuit against director

We’ve had quite a wild ride from our current SLVWD board members. They have doubled the price we pay for water, while we are footing the legal bills to defend a board member charged in a conflict of interest case.

Well, instead of focusing on providing water service, the SLVWD is considering more litigation, that will, again, be paid for by water rate-payers. This time it is to silence Bill Smallman, who saw it fit to let rate-payers know how their money is being spent… especially in light of the litigation rate payers are paying for around Terry Vierra.

The original judgement against Vierra was $10,000… now ratepayers are footing a bill of roughly $200,000!  (see below for more news links covering this)

During last week’s meeting, held in downtown Boulder Creek, the board decided to take matters behind closed doors!

EVENT: Dyane Harwood, Author of Birth of a New Brain – at the Boulder Creek Library

Thursday, October 19, 7 PM – 8:30 PM at the Boulder Creek Branch Library.

This is a fundraiser for the Boulder Creek chapter of the Friends of the Library and the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Proceeds from the sale of the book and baked goods benefit the Friends and NAMI-SC.

Birth of a New Brain, the first book to address bipolar disorder triggered by childbirth, chronicles the journey of a mother who will stop at nothing to survive overwhelming manic highs and soul-shattering depressions to find mental stability.

TODAY: Santa Cruz Mountains Harvest Festival

Kids’ activities and hayrides, local beer and wine and a jam, pie and pickling contests. Chocolate dipped figs, homemade apple tarts, and try… chocolate dipped garlic cloves.. from Steelehouse Farmstand. (At the Junction)

Two stages will be set up for musicians at Junction Park and outside Joe’s Bar and Boulder Creek Hardware. A kids’ pass for activities is $10. Beer or wine will be $6 glass or $15 for a Harvest Festival glass and one drink.
