LOCATION: 200 Block of Bear Creek Canyon Road, Boulder Creek

James D. Campos DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT:

32 Years Old Santa Cruz County resident

On 3/2/18 just after 3 AM, deputies were dispatched to a victim of a shooting who arrived at the Boulder Creek Fire Station. Deputies learned the shooting occurred on Bear Creek Canyon Road near Bear Creek Road. The suspect, James Campos and the victim had gotten into an argument in the 200 Block of Bear Creek Canyon Road over a vandalism that occurred. Campos was armed with a rifle and shot at the victim at least once, striking him in the leg. The victim fled the area and was brought to the Fire Station for medical assistance. The victim was transported to a Bay Area trauma center where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives were able to identify Campos and began searching for him. Campos was found at a home in Brookdale where he was arrested without incident. Campos was interviewed and subsequently booked into the Santa Cruz County jail on charges of Assault with a Deadly weapon.
