When:       Sunday, June 8th 2014, 2pm – 4pm

705 Front Street
Santa Cruz, CA 95060

Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History is releasing their seventh history journal this Sunday, the reception and signing of the book is from 2pm – 4pm in the atrium. A Split History is about redwood logging and conservation in the Santa Cruz mountains, the book is written by 21 authors, has 34 articles, and 128 illustrations. It covers the first peoples to the present day and is split between the interests of loggers and conservationists alike.

The natives of the mountains saw redwoods as an integral part of their cultural landscape. While new settlers recognized the timber value of these same trees. An imaginative few realized redwoods were an irreplaceable treasure and fought to preserve them. With new research, previously unpublished materials from local authors, and 128 illustrations makes this book a wonderful read about our local history.

You can purchase your copy at MAH or the San Lorenzo Valley Museum. For all of you who love local history this is a must attend event and a must have book.
