The Mountain Bulletin: Verizon Moves Forward with Cell Tower

For a synopsis of the current state of Verizon’s proposed cell tower right in downtown Boulder Creek, click HERE to read Steve Poikonen’s article at the Mountain Bulletin.

From the article:

“My information was based on a statement Chris Currier had made, who stated he no longer supported the tower and expected the application to be withdrawn. Verizon has taken the position that “Mr. Currier is in a contractual arrangement, and Verizon, not Mr. Currier, will decide whether or not to withdraw.” ‘

Boulder Creek Radio Station Meets The August 11th Deadline

radio2

August 12, 2013 Boulder Creek, CA. -Efforts to get the Boulder Creek radio station on the air by the August 11th deadline have succeeded. The non-profit organization, Common Frequency, was tasked with installing the antenna at a site on Bear Creek Road and hooking up a computer to broadcast a continuous loop of content until the local radio outfit Boulder Creek Community Radio(BCCR) can begin broadcasting its own original content. The station, KBCZ at 90.1 FM has been silent for over a year and if it didn’t go live by the August 11 deadline it would have gone dark, without a license for the foreseeable future. The sale of the station still has some hurdles to overcome and will not be fully purchased until sometime in January 2014. Interim Director Tim Welch said, “We are thrilled to hear the station is broadcasting and to know the FCC broadcasting license did not expire. We are optimistic that we will now be able to purchase the license and move forward with setting up the infrastructure for what will be Boulder Creek Community Radio, a non-commercial, educational (NCE) station that will serve to further unite this great community.”
