Want Boulder Creek Community Radio? Come Tonight!

The Board of Directors of the Boulder Creek Rec and Park District will be meeting tonight at 7pm.

The possibility of a community radio station serving Boulder Creek and the surrounding areas is a topic that will be discussed. Many town residents have been working together to make this a reality and it’s looking like it could happen.

If you’re in support please come out tonight and let your voice be heard! The meeting will be at the Recreation Hall Annex (The Rec Center) at 13333 Middleton Avenue, Boulder Creek.  Click HERE for more info….

Misconceptions of the “Prop. 84 Proposed Project” – February 18, 2010

The BCRPD is very happy to be getting public input on our proposed project to create a new facility in the town core. We have held a series of public meetings to gather input and will continue to do so. Another meeting will be held on February 27 at 10:30 AM at the Rec Hall. In the meantime, I am hearing some common misconceptions about the proposal that I would like to clear up.

There is a misconception that if this proposal goes forward, all the houses currently on the property would be torn down. This is not the case. The draft plan would call for keeping four of the current houses. There is a misconception that all the trees on the proposed property would be cut down. This again is not true. The draft plan calls for keeping all the redwoods and the heritage oaks currently on the property.

Perhaps the most damaging rumor is that somehow the District was trying to, as one person said, “Pull the wool over our eyes.” This is not accurate. The District advertised the proposal and the project meetings by flyers, in the newspapers (all three general circulation papers in the area), and by word of mouth. Our organizational meetings were well attended by members of the public. We are very happy to be receiving input from our neighbors in the area. We will continue to welcome the input of the public we serve in order to arrive at a project that provides the people of the upper San Lorenzo Valley the recreational services they deserve.
