Postcards from the past
Postcards from the Past: Gene’s Alpine Inn
Reader Comment: Vince Rutherford
Below is a comment from a Boulder Creek Insider Reader. If anyone has info, please comment below or email us.
2 weeks ago an 89 year old resident was hit and killed in front of the drug store when he crossed the street, in broad daylight, in the crosswalk! No story in the paper. After 3 attempts I finally got the Sentinel to do a story, 2 weeks later, but KSBW told me they just can’t get clear up here for news…we are too far away!
Vince Rutherford died and the man who was speeding through town in his big fancy car has not been charged, nor arrested!! This is an outrage! If anyone saw this accident on Feb 7 at about 12:45pm please call the CHP. They say the “investigation will take a few weeks. His widow watched it happen and is suffering so much, but the man is out free. Please call our supervisor, the CHP and whomever else we can get to do something about this horrible accident.

This could be a nice, free present for your significant other on Valentine’s Day…. clean up your yard and drop it off for free!
Read the flyer below.. there are some conditions such as, no commercial/business materials and no lumber, poison oak or root balls.
ON TAP: Boulder Creek Brewery
We don’t just have a ‘brewery’ in Boulder Creek… we have a KICK A$$ BREWERY and brewmaster.
From the brewer:
“Louisville Special” is our Kentucky Common, a long forgotten style that made up for almost 80% of beer sales in Kentucky before prohibition. Based on a Bourbon sour mash recipe, this Brown ale is brewed from corn, rye, and molasses, it was sour mashed for a hint of refreshing tartness. Come in and try a taste of beer history.

Also at DIO Fest are a kids playground, swimming pool and loads of outdoor space to have fun. There will also be an arts & crafts deck for kids. So don’t hesitate to bring the whole family to DIO Fest, just know that unless you have an on-site parking pass you’ll be riding the shuttle up to the fest with the kids!
DIO Fest is committed to having a low carbon foot-print! There will be recycling and solid waste bins everywhere, as well as ashtrays in the designated smoking areas. All festival attendees are encouraged to bring their own mugs & eating utensils to minimize waste from drinks & food. Camp Krem is our home, and therefore we treat like one. Last year we left DIO Fest sparkling clean & beautiful, let’s do it again!
