LAST DAYS – SLV Museums’ Special Smithsonian Exhibit

SLV - 2014-03 Way We Worked

The exhibit has been extended for one more day, so if you have not seen it yet catch it before it’s gone. The last days is this Saturday and Sunday from 12:00noon – 4:00pm.

SLV Museum’s exhibit “The Way We Worked”, is a Smithsonian exhibition which have exhibits all over the United States. Our exhibit is from March 9 – April 12 now till April 13, 2014. The Way We Worked, is adapted from the original exhibition developed by the National Archives, explores how work became such a central element in American culture by tracing the many changes that affected the workforce and work environments over the past 150 years. The exhibition draws from the Archives’ rich collections to tell this compelling story. The exhibition invites visitors to hear workers tell their own stories, or view films of various industries. Interactive components convey the experiences of multiple generations of families involved in the same industry. So go see it before it’s gone!

DIO fest Boulder Creek

From the website:

DIO Fest exists so that corporate mega-festivals don’t eventually rule the world. It exists to help us remember that the person on the stage is not so different from the person in the audience, or the local farmer that’s supplying the grinds. It serves to remind us that we can do great things when we come together.

Oliver’s Fund – Help Boulder Creek Elementary Student

Local resident and Boulder Creek Elementary kindergartner Oliver is fighting Leukemia.

Click HERE to help he and his family out..and donation helps.

From the page:

As many of you know 5 year old Oliver was recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He’s anxious to get back to his kindergarten classmates at Boulder Creek Elementary but for now he is receiving treatment in Santa Clara. Parents and friends of his classmates are getting together to raise funds to support his family with the costs of treatment, travel costs to and from the hospital as his parents try to navigate work and caring for Oliver. We’d also like to raise funds to buy an iPad to be used so that Oliver can Skype with his classmates. Staying in touch with his friends will be an important part of his recovery. Please help if you can!

Reader Comment: Vince Rutherford

Below is a comment from a Boulder Creek Insider Reader. If anyone has info, please comment below or email us.

2 weeks ago an 89 year old resident was hit and killed in front of the drug store when he crossed the street, in broad daylight, in the crosswalk! No story in the paper. After 3 attempts I finally got the Sentinel to do a story, 2 weeks later, but KSBW told me they just can’t get clear up here for news…we are too far away!

Vince Rutherford died and the man who was speeding through town in his big fancy car has not been charged, nor arrested!! This is an outrage! If anyone saw this accident on Feb 7 at about 12:45pm please call the CHP. They say the “investigation will take a few weeks. His widow watched it happen and is suffering so much, but the man is out free. Please call our supervisor, the CHP and whomever else we can get to do something about this horrible accident.
