The Board of Directors of the Boulder Creek Rec and Park District will be meeting tonight at 7pm.

The possibility of a community radio station serving Boulder Creek and the surrounding areas is a topic that will be discussed. Many town residents have been working together to make this a reality and it’s looking like it could happen.

If you’re in support please come out tonight and let your voice be heard! The meeting will be at the Recreation Hall Annex (The Rec Center) at 13333 Middleton Avenue, Boulder Creek.  Click HERE for more info….

Boulder Creek Community Radio Station Begins To Take Shape

Boulder Creek Community Radio Station Begins To Take Shape

May 15, 2013, Boulder Creek, CA- San Lorenzo Valley community members began to discuss plans to obtain an FCC license that became available for a community radio station at 90.1 FM. Community members have had several meetings and are excited to purchase a transmitter, determine a transmission site, obtain a broadcast studio and begin broadcasting. Ongoing funds would be sought by obtaining local underwriters and pledge drives.  The radio signal would transmit to a large part of the San Lorenzo Valley. Members feel this would be a valuable service for local schools to publicize their fundraising events, for public safety information, road closure and weather information as well as to publicize local events put on by the Boulder Creek Recreation Center and other community non-profits.

DIO Fest – last weekend at Camp Krem

We dropped by DIO Fest (Do it Ourselves Fest) last weekend at Camp Krem and it was a wonderful event – great people, gracious hosts and unique music in a stunning, peaceful mountaintop environment. DIO fest was sold out – quite an accomplishment for an inaugural event (we’re hinting that we hope there will be more).

Upon arriving we were greeted by the organizers Jonathan LaBeaud and Andrea Combs – both really nice folks. Andrea gave us a tour of the plot and brought us up to the main stage to see the North Pacific String Band. Right before the band started we had a chat with Steve Stubblefield who  also is a member of the North Pacific String Band and an organizer of this event.
