Attack At Junction Park!

This past Monday morning two men approached a Boulder Creek Rec staff member from different directions and attacked him. Click HERE to read the full article from the Santa Cruz Sentinel.

If anyone has any tips or info, please email us – right now the criminals have not been caught.

The Junction Park is a pretty place and it’s a shame to hear that the scum of this town are controling it. We sure do wish there was a deputy assigned full time to our town.

BACONATION 2010

Introducing the first annual Bacon Festival of Boulder Creek!

Join us in a celebration of food, music and fun.

WHERE: Junction Park in Boulder Creek
WHEN: Sat, August 21st, 1 – 4pm

People are invited to bring a bacon inspired dish (or veggie dish for the herbivores out there) or $5 each (kids under 12 free). People will eat and mingle, and then vote on the best dish. The winner wins all the profits from the festival.

This is to spur culinary creativity and promote social interaction. Unusual and innovative dishes are in demand. Let your imagination go wild at the thought of bacon! Use this as an excuse to try out those strange bacon dished that have always intrigued you. Bacontini, anyone? Bacon pie? Maple bacon? Chocobacon? (No alcohol allowed at the park, sorry).

There will be food, fun, bacon inspired crafts, live music by The Butchers, swimming in the river and lots of BACON!

Editor’s Note: This is a truly genius idea! We love it!

Boulder Creek Rec and Park Wins Statewide Award

Boulder Creek Recreation and Park District won the award for Outstanding Small District in the state by the California Association of Recreation and Park Districts (CARPD). This is a huge honor – Congrats to the Boulder Creek Recreation and Park District. “The Junction” is looking great and we’ve definitely noticed a change for the better there. Now families and kids enjoy the area instead of drinkers and tweakers! (well most of em have moved down to the dam).

The Boulder Creek Rec Hall also offers an impressive amount of great programs.

And here for adult programs

Some of the District’s outstanding accomplishments for 2009:

* Remodeled one facility and upgraded two parks
* Introduced 11 new special family events
* Dramatically increased facility usage, by at least 3 times

* Created a positive work environment for staff and instructors

*Made the parks safe and secure
