In The News: Barbara Day Park and crime

Joe Shreve at the Press Banner has posted an article regarding the issues at Boulder Creek’s Barbara Day Park. From the article:

“Several described Barbara Day Park — the dam park at Middleton and Fairview avenues — as a place where people are regularly drunk or high, party at all hours of the night and trespass onto private property. They said dogs are often allowed off their leashes, trash accumulates and broken glass and discarded hypodermic needles are common hazards.”

Remember Virgil Grimes – by Robert Presswood

Virg had just retired
He mixed his last drink
But God must be thirsty
He was taken in a blink
Now he has left us
We’ll miss him one and all
Our long time well known barkeep
Has sounded his last call
As you sit at Joe’s Bar
And inbide your favorite potion
Remember Virgil Grimes
THE MOTION OF THE OCEAN

Hello Boulder Creek People.

I got a notion to search for Lynette and Ted whom I married in Phoenix in 1983 at Canyon Lake. Quite a story there. Coming up on 30 years.

Could you please send this Hello to Lynette or give me an email address to contact.

Thanks,

Robert McNary, Harlowton, MT.

Our Response: We know Lynette as the Boulder Creek Library branch manager. We don’t know her email address, but we’ll look in to it. We would love to hear the story!

The potion she made to do this to the bird had an unusual but admired side effect, it tied the bird’s sight and what it heard to the witch’s cauldron.

Reader Letter: “tweekers” are a symptom of larger problem

Below is a letter from a Boulder Creek Insider reader regarding the prevalence of meth in Boulder Creek:

You could help yourself in this area, first by requiring property owners to keep up appearances and put pressure on those who don’t. This is a Quality of life issue. If those who live their don’t care about what image the town portrays, they are likely not to care about any other crimes they commit. The “tweekers” are a symptom of the larger problem. The area is infested with low life white trash. Sorry, for the cold reality folks. Unless people show they care, then they do not care. Simple, start with properties like the one on hwy9 and flat rd.

This was in response to THIS reader letter stating that  the “Tweeker problem = Crime problem.”
